WCSD accepting applications for trustee spot

Washoe County School District will begin accepting applications today to replace former trustee Lezlie Porter.

Letters of interest will be accepted through 5 p.m. Aug. 21 and should include a résumé or curriculum vitae.

The seat has been vacant since Porter died in July after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Board members will appoint the new trustee at the school board meeting Sept. 2.

Whomever they appoint, the the new trustee will serve until December 2010, said Steve Mulvenon, WCSD spokesman.

If the appointed person wants the seat again, then he or she will have to run in the general election that will be held in November 2010.
