School Board: Grein leads Andrews

By Cyndi Loza

Retired educator Ken Grein led a race against Byllie Andrews seek to replace Jonnie Pullman for Washoe County school board District D representing southeast and old southwest Reno.

It’s nice to see I was head in early returns but it’s such a small portion of the big picture … but it’s way to early to get excited,” said Grein, 59, who worked in various capacities in 32 years, including elementary school principal and superintendent of operations. “It’s too early to get too excited.”

Andrews, 65, has worked for 36 years as an educator in Washoe County, she has been the founding administrator of Rainshadow Community Charter High School, supervised student teachers at the University of Nevada, Reno and Sierra Nevada College and helped K-12 teachers obtain their master’s as professors at Sierra Nevada College.

She was not available for comment.
