Glen Ellyn Historical Society to open gift shop

By Cyndi Loza

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society will open a new gift shop in May that officials hope will assist the organization in its financial woes and become a focal point in the northern Glen Ellyn business district.

We’re hoping that it does provide a revenue stream for operating funds that will support the other aspects of our mission,” said Jan Langford, executive director of the historical society. “We’re banking on it.”

Stacy’s Corners Store is planned to open May 1. The shop, which will open within the Glen Ellyn History Center on 800 N. Main St., will host unique gift items including syrups, jams, signature blends of coffee, home decor, beauty products, books, hand-crafted merchandise, jewelry, historic reproduction of toys and other Glen Ellyn themed merchandise.

We’re really excited about bringing a nice mix to the retail that’s already here (northern Glen Ellyn) and really having this become a focal point of Glen Ellyn’s northern business district,” Langford said.
