Gang-related shooting leaves two men dead, police say

Two men were shot dead in south Reno on Friday morning after a possible gang-related shooting, police said.

Reno police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 90 block of Smithridge Drive at 2:12 a.m.

One man died of gunshot injuries on the scene, and another was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center before being pronounced dead.

No names were released.

It appears that shooting is gang-related,” Sgt. Kim Bradshaw said. “Beyond that we’re still investigating so I can’t say any more.”

No arrests had been made by late Friday.

A police news release said that “detectives are currently investigating possible subjects of interest and the circumstance surrounding the shooting …”
