Jerry Whitehead Elementary School students will continue their Reading Week festivities this week by collecting canned foods for the Evelyn Mount/Granite Construction Canned Food Drive. Community activist Evelyn Mount will visit the school on Thursday to collect the canned foods. Mount also will assist the school with awarding the top readers from each classroom and recognizing the class that donates the most cans for the food drive.

Each year, Granite Construction provides wheelbarrows for every classroom to collect and move canned food items. Granite Construction visit Whitehead as guest readers throughout Reading Week. The school’s Parent-Faculty Association supplies the awards for the two top readers from each class and the awards for the class with the most food drive donations.
