Community Bank of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn donates to senior citizen group
Community Bank of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn donated $702 to sponsor one senior for the 9th year in a row through Humanitarian Service Project‘s Senior Citizen Project.
The bank’s donation will help to sponsor a senior for an entire year to provide monthly delivery of groceries, including fresh fruits and fresh vegetables, frozen meats and non-perishable goods, bread, paper products, according to a press release from Humanitarian Service Project.
The Senior Citizen Project, established in 1982, currently provides 115 low-income seniors with 90 pounds of groceries per month. In addition to groceries, a “Secret Pal” purchases gifts from a senior’s wish list and volunteers deliver the packages monthly to the senior’s home.
To sponsor a senior, a donation of $800 for one year or $70 a month is needed. Co-sponsorships of $400 and monthly sponsorships of $35 for a co-sponsorship are also available.
