Committee locates new revenue sources for schools
A committee charged with finding money to upgrade and build new schools in Washoe County identified four revenue sources on Tuesday.
The committee will vote on plan at the final meeting scheduled April 23 at the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority board room.
The committee has until May 1 to make recommendations.
After nearly seven months of discussion, the School Construction and Revitalization Advisory Committee identified as possible new revenue sources increases in:
- sales tax
- modified business tax
- government services tax
“We’re getting closer and clearly we have narrowed the focus and that’s good,” Superintendent Paul Dugan said after the Washoe County School District meeting at the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority board room.
The committee will vote on plan at the final meeting scheduled April 23 at the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority board room. The committee has until May 1 to make recommendations.
