A Reno woman hopes her feline will bring a world record to the Truckee Meadows.

Robin Hendrickson, who owns a Maine coon cat called Stewie, aims to break the world’s record for having the longest cat this month at the Five-Star Feline Face-off International Championship and Household Pet Cat Show.

The three-day event begins Sept. 19 at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. It will host 250 cats from around the world. Each cat will be judged by 14 different judges on the basis of personality, color and coat condition.

Stewie will be measured at the show, where he needs to break the current Guinness World Record of 48 inches.

He’s just as sweet as he is long,” said Hendrickson, president of the Silver Cats Club and show manager.

Hendrickson, 39, said she hopes the measuring of Stewie will bring more people to the show — and give the Maine coon the recognition he deserves.

I think he’s the world’s longest cat, and I think he deserves recognition for his size,” said Hendrickson.
