Conservatory-Central Park Drive Station, 3630 W. Lake St., Chicago, IL

Acts of Kindness

By Cyndi Loza

Willie Richardson was all set to catch a Green Line train from the Conservatory-Central Park station when his CTA fare card malfunctioned. The card reader kept telling Richardson that his card had no value, even though he’d put money on it. A man who saw Richardson having trouble handed him a one-day pass, claiming it was an extra. Richardson, 36, took the man up on his offer. “I was surprised,” he said. “Normally I wouldn’t [expect] someone to do that.”
